“All grown-ups were once children… but only a few of them remember it.”
—Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
Here’s to remembering. I love the details in this grainy, 1970s photo: my pigtails, the pink one-piece shirred bathing suit, the bandage underneath my brother’s daredevil chin. I love the way I’m holding his arm and the impish grin on his 3-year-old face. I love the composition with us in the right-hand corner, our blurry boat behind, and the long pier extending into the Chesapeake Bay further off in the distance.
And I love that you’re here, honoring your creativity with me, remembering the art of seeing the not-so-obvious in order to revel in the wonders of the world.
